Finding things to do in Brighton
Brighton truly has something for everyone. At a glance Brighton boasts a world famous seafront with two iconic piers, a royal palace, a distinct cosmopolitan culture and a thriving gay scene. On closer inspection however you will discover that Brighton has much more to offer than its already shining reputation leads you to believe, and that there are plenty of things to do.
In Brighton there is an exciting array of family activities. Within a short distance of each other is the famous Brighton Beach, Palace Pier, Sea life Centre, Royal Pavilion and shopping districts. Further out of town, you will be greeted by the rolling downs and many historic sites of interest dotted around the Sussex countryside.
For the keen shopper, well worth checking out are the North and South Laines as well as the modern Churchill Square shopping centre. The North Laines offer a wide selection of coffee shops, cafes and bohemian shops and restaurants. In contrast the South Laines offers a concentration of quaint alleyways occupied by jewellery shops, boutique clothes stores and the odd traditional pub or two. If shopping is on your list of “things to do in Brighton” you won’t be disappointed.
If you’re interested in more cultural pursuits then Brighton has many art galleries, theatres and an art-house cinema all within walking distance of each other.
If you thrive on nightlife in Brighton you are spoilt for choice - it’s a city that most certainly has its finger on the pulse. From the mass of live venues, which regularly showcase promising newcomers and well established acts to the prolific bar and club scene, there is something to cater for everyone’s taste.
Perhaps the most important aspect of Brighton however, that defines it as a city unlike any other in Britain, is the local populace. Diverse, multicultural, friendly and sociable, Brightonians are typically out to have a good time. |
